Egentlig har jeg et lite prinsipp om aldri å gå to ganger samme sted når jeg er ute på tur. Det var likevel ikke vanskelig overse dette når maisola og sommerlige temperaturer fristet til en retur til Fløtatinden. Denne toppen som troner i hvit kappe innerst i Øksendalen selv langt ute på vårparten. Det ble en flott tur i "baris" og shorts og en flott nedkjøring i "slush". Sola varmet godt i fjellsiden, men det var fortsatt faste og fine forhold.

Vi var litt sene med avkjøringen fra Trondheim slik at vi ikke var klare til å starte på oppstigningen fra Brandstad før 1130 tiden lørdag formiddag. Fløtatinden lå innbydende i en hvit kappe badet i en vårlig og godt steikende maisol. Den heller sommerlige temperaturen var også med på å skape en perfekt ramme for denne skituren . Nede i Øksendalen var det varmt og bart, og dette stod i sterk kontrast til de vinterlige forholdene høyere oppe. Ski og brett ble derfor slengt på sekken, mens skjorta samtidig ble vrengt av overkroppen. Dette kom til å bli varmt selv med shorts nedentil. Noen i turfølget manglet shorts av den vanlige typen, så bokser-shorts ble løsningen for dem. Det var varmt oppover lia. Svetten rant, men etter noen vellykkede bekkekrysninger stod vi ved snøkanten like ved tregrensa på ca. 500 meter.

Utsikten mot Fløtatinden åpenbarer seg her. I tillegg ser man bort på den mer dramatiske toppen rett nord for Fløtatinden, merket 1512 på kartet, bort til toppen av Skjorta og sørover til de høyeste toppene i området som for eksempel Vikesoksa og Slotthøa.

Den slake ryggen ble forsert i litt råtten snø før vi kunne ta fatt på den siste bakken til topps. Det var selvfølgelig også andre som utnyttet denne fine mai-lørdagen i fjellet. Det var flere turfølger som snirklet seg oppover der inkludert påfallende mange med blå-gult pass.

En annen ting som gjør Fløtatinden til en flott topptur er den enorme utsikten som åpenbarer seg når man tar steget over toppkanten. Toppene sør for Eikesdalsvatnet har man ikke sett noe til før man med ett ser alle på en gang. Dette er virkelig et villt og vakkert område.

Toppen er nådd. Litt disig utsikt mot vest. Eikesdalsvatnet skimtes 1700 høydemeter lenger nede.

Nedkjøringen ble som alltid veldig artig. Selv om det på denne årstiden er dårlig med pudder er det gøy å kjøre i vårsnøen . Jeg gjorde en liten vri på nedkjøringen ved å gå opp på toppen av Saufjellet for å ta den siste bakken i et helt stykke . Det var herlig å sette noen gode signatur-svinger der ingen hadde kjørt før meg.
