I og med at jeg ikke hadde sett snurten av de fleste Molladalstoppene under siste sommers besøk passet det godt med en tur tilbake vinterstid. 2 telt ble fraktet inn til Storevatnet innerst i den ville og dramatiske dalen. Det ble to overnattinger i skiftende vær, men vi kom oss likevel opp på Jønshornet via Jønshornsrenna.
Sunnmørsalpene med sine kvasse tinder passer perfekt for tinderangling med tilhørende flotte nedkjøringer. Vi tok med oss brett-, telemark- og randoneèutstyr inn i Molladalen for noen dager med håp om å komme oss opp på noen av toppene; Jønshornet, Randers- og Mohns topp.
Vi startet fra parkeringen i Erdalen med tunge sekker. Jeg hadde med meg brett og truger, men valgte likevel å slenge dette på sekken for å gå på fjellskiene de få kilometrene inn til Storevatnet. Det var ikke mange kilometrene, men de nesten 600 høydemetre gjorde innmarsjen likvel svært strabasiøs. Når dette er sagt hadde vi ikke spart på noe under pakkingen

Jønshornsrenna
Dagen etter innmarsjen var planen å gå opp til Jønshornet for å kjøre ned Jønshornsrenna. Dette er en flott og brei renne ned fra toppen som ender ved Storevatnet i Molladalen. Renna holder en helning på 30 graders tallet, kanskje 40 grader i starten.

Vi la i vei oppover fjellsiden fra teltleiren men kom ikke langt opp før vi vurderte skredfaren som for stor. Dette skulle i ettertid vise seg å være en grov feilvurdering
. Vi snudde og satte kursen opp fjellene på motsatt side, i retning Grønetinden. Når vi hadde kommet oss et lite stykke opp så vi et turfølge som hadde kursen rett opp renna. Vi hadde en liten anelse om hvem det kunne være så vi snudde for å sjekke. Turfølget skulle vise seg å være Bård Smestad og co. ikke helt dem vi trodde det var, men alikevel kjente fjes.
De hadde en annen vurdering av skredfaren enn oss, og etter en nærmere vurderingsrunde fulgte vi også på opp renna. Vi fulgte ikke renna direkte, noe vi i ettertid burde ha gjort. Vi fulgte venstre-flanken oppover. Denne er noe brattere enn selve renna og har en mer ujevn stigning
. I etterpåklokskapens ånd var ikke dette noe godt valg. Fjellsiden ble likvel forsert uten de store problemer og vi kom oss opp til eggen på toppen av renna. Her blåste det friskt, men vi tok alikevel en liten pause før den siste bakken opp til toppen.

Været var skiftende, men nedbøren holdt seg heldigvis unna. Vi fikk derfor et lite glimt av den enorme utsikten fra toppunktet.
Nedkjøringen ble riktig så bra. Selv om det ikke var pudderforhold var det herlig å sette svinger nedover den bratte renna. En spektakulær og artig nedkjøring.
