Ruten er med sine 1039 meter beskjeden i høyde, men tilbyr en vid utsikt mot fjellene i Trollheimen og på nordmøre. Været var supert da vi la avgårde fra vår base ved Stakkslettkoia (NTNUI) i Kårøydalen. Skimåneden april fikk en fantastisk start, og nedkjøringen på østsiden av toppen hadde ingen drømt om på forhånd.

Vi ankom Stakkslettkoia lørdag 1.april for å feire Mattis sin 26 årsdag. Denne gangen var det 9 stykker i turfølget. Været var ikke det beste i området den dagen, selv om Klaus som kom fra Todalen senere på dagen rapporterte om finere vær.Tradisjonsrik koiemat ble servert på kvelden. Det var "Murer-gryte" med tilhørende god drikke . Senere på kvelden stemte alle i etter de mangfoldige sangtekstene i "Omar".

Søndagen møtte oss med stille og skyfritt vær. Temperaturen steg etter hvert til det behagelige, og svetten begynte fort å renne når vi la avgårde i lia opp fra Kårvatnet. Ruten var dagens mål.
Den våte snøen som falt i går hadde blir omdannet av nattens kulde til tørr og fin pudder. Føret var dermed perfekt i det den lange rekken med skiløpere snirklet seg over flaten sør for Ruttjønna.

Toppen ble nådd etter ytterligere 300 høydemetre. Toppunktet har en flott utsikt mot toppene på nordmøre, i Trollheimen og i Innerdalen tross sin beskjedne høyde.

Nedkjøringen på østsiden skulle vise seg å være av det fantastiske slaget for fjellski. Østsiden ligger tydeligvis ofte i le for vinden, og lå der badet i solskinn med 40 cm lett puddersnø . Anders var først til å droppe ut over kanten fra toppen, og etter hvert fulgte en etter en etter . Føret var helt fantastisk, og det var bare å "presse" på i Telemarksvingene i bakken som har et fall på 300 høydemetre

Etter noen flere korte nedkjøringen gikk vi opp igjen mot toppen, og kjørte ned på den siden vi hadde kommet opp. Føret var ikke like godt der, men alikevell ikke dårlig.

Dagen ble avsluttet med en time i solveggen på Stakkslettkoia før kursen igjen ble satt hjemover til Trondheim.
