En tur til denne toppen hadde vi snakket om lenge. Christian og jeg snakket løst om å bestige denne toppen allerede i januar, men vi besinnet oss heldigvis p.g.a. dagens lengde. Denne dagen derimot lå forholdene helt til rette. Det fine vinterværet i Trøndelag ser ut til å fortsette, og turfølget som denne gangen talte 9 personer la avgårde fra parkeringen ved Storli i strålende solskinn.

Det var en del minusgrader, men sola varmet godt der vi gikk på nypreparert løype innover mot Tovatna. Storsomrungnebba sammen med Storsalen sin dominerende beliggenhet lå i synsfeltet hele veien innover. Det gikk radig, og det tok ikke lang tid før vi krysset det nederste Tovatnet i retning av Medskaret . Vi skulle tydeligvis få oppleve nok en herlig vinterdag.

I Medskaret tok vi en god lunsjpause før vi la avgårde mot skaret mellom Østre- og Storsomrungnebba. Skiføret var bra, og fellene satt bra i bakkene opp fra Medskarvatnet. Det begynte å blåse ganske kraftig når vi var ca. halveis opp i bakken, og innover i botnen like nordvest for Østre måtte jeg ta på både vindjakke og vindvotter. 10 minus og vind merkes. Det var ikke alle i turfølget som var utstyrt med feller så det ble en liten pause oppe i skaret.

Dette gikk et godt stykke før skia ble satt igjen i starten av det siste bratte stykket opp til "østtoppen". Snøforholdene var gode, men det var likvell litt vanskelig å komme seg opp i mellom usynlige steiner og is. Etter litt strabaser kom vi opp på ryggen og den siste bakken opp til store viste seg

. Samtidig åpenbarte det seg en mye lettere oppstigningsrute enn den vi hadde valgt. Denne ruta er markert med blått på det vedlagte kartutsnittet i bildegalleriet. Det blåste kraftig, og med vinden og snøfokken midt i mot var det vanskelig å se noe som helst i den siste bakken til toppen. Det ble ganske vått og kaldt med all snøen som man fikk midt i fjeset . Den siste kanten opp til det flate toppartiet ble forsert, og utskten mot resten av Innderdalstindene viste seg.

På vei over nedre Tovatnet. Storsomrungnebba og Storsalen troner i bakgrunnen.

De fleste i turfølget kom seg opp på toppen, og etter noen kjappe bilder og litt varming av den litt frosne nesa til Carl bar det raskt nedover igjen. Nå hadde vi vinden i ryggen og nedstigningen gikk som vanlig mye lettere enn oppstigningen.
