Storhornet ligger helt i østkanten av Trollheimen. Toppen er en populær skitopp med null innmarsj. Det er kun en jevn stigning opp og 900 høydemetere med nedkjøring som dessert. Mildværet i Trøndelag den siste tiden har tært hardt på vinterstemningen. Selv om det var nok snø i fjellet denne dagen var det lite som minnet om januar måned og midtvinters.

Storhornet byr ikke på bratt skikjøring, men er ligger derimot særdeles lett tilgjengelig til kun noen få minutters kjøring fra Oppdal sentrum
