Dagstur fra Trondheim til Meråker sitt "nasjonalfjell", Fonnfjellet. Fonnfjellet ligger flott til rett sør for Meråker sentrum og helt nord i Skarvan og Roltdalen nasjonalpark. Vi besteg toppen fra sør i bygevær og litt vind via merket sti fra veien inn til Bjørkslettvollen.

Det er mange ulike veier som fører til toppen av Fonnfjellet . Vi fant etter litt knoting veien inn til Bjørkslettvollen (det er ganske dårlig skiltet i mylderet av grusveier ut fra Meråker sentrum)

Nå ligger ikke lenger snøfonna under Fonnfjellet året rundt, men Fonnfjellet er fortsatt et flott syn der det troner over skibygda Meråker like ved svenskegrensen.
