Gjørarenna eller Saudalen som den egentlig heter er lett å dra kjensel på når man kjører riksvei 70 mot Sunndalsøra fra Oppdal. På lang avstand ser renna ut som den stuper rett ned fjellsiden, men som så mange andre snørenner er dette kun et synsbedrag. Renna er bred og fin og har en helning på mellom 30-35 grader, kanskje opp mot 40 grader i enkelte partier. Med en høydeforskjell på over 900 meter er dette en ypperlig renne-tur. Rasfaren må man selvfølgelig ta i betraktning, og man må også passe spesielt på den løse fjellsiden til høyre når man går oppover. Vi kjørte renna på panserføre. Start og mål er på gården Hjelle litt sør for Gjøra.

Selv om ikke lengden på turen er lang i antall kilometre, så kan 900 høydemetre på beina, i stive sko, i jevn bratt stigning være en påkjenning. Spar på kreftene til nedoverturen. Det er der de skal brukes.

Fra toppen av renna er det flott panoramautsikt mot Trollheimen og Innerdalsfjella i nord, samt innover Dovre og Sunndalsfjella i øst.

Pass på rasfaren
Hold til venstre på vei oppover for å unngå å bli eksponert for evt. steinras fra den løse fjellsiden til høyre.
