 I dag tok vi farvel med Basecamp i Plasa di Mulas og ankom for ikke lenge siden Camp Canada (5000 moh).
Noen hadde flyttet på bagasjen vår som vi fikk fraktet opp i går kveld, noe som gjorde at vi måtte finne nye plasser å slå oss ned på på campen.
Når jeg gikk oppover til Canada fra Basecamp i går (akklimatiseringsturen som vi må ha før vi slår oss ned høyere oppe) brukte jeg 1 time og 55 min, og hadde da en snittpuls på 137. Når jeg gikk oppover idag brukte jeg 2 timer og 55 minutter, og hadde en snittpuls på 128. Turen gikk noe senere og var tyngre pågrunn av at vi idag hadde mye tyngre sekker med oss i dag.
Været er forsatt veldig fint, men ser at det ligger et skylag med nedbør over Chile i vest. Vil selvfølgelig fortsatt ha finværet, men om det skal komme nedbør, er det best at det kommer nå slik at vi slipper å få det de siste dagene når vi nærmer oss toppen!
Alle er nå samlet på Canada, bortsett fra 3 stk som er igjen nede på Bascamp og venter på å få låne aggregat siden vårt er ødelagt ( vi mistenker høydesyken..... ) Det lånte aggregatet må bæres ned til Basecamp i morgen etter at vi har gjort forsøkene
. Har også en del annet forskningsutstyr som må bæres opp.
Blant annet nitrogentank som holder alle prøvene på en temperatur ned til 180 minusgrader.

Bakgrunn:
10 medisinerstudenter fra Det Medisinske Fakultet ved NTNU i Trondheim og 7 andre "ordinære" ekspedisjonsdeltakere dro i desember 2006 til Andesfjellene for å gjennomføre ulike forskningsprosjekter innen høydemedisin. Gruppen bestod av både ferske og mer erfarne forskere. De ville gjennomføre ulike eksperiment på sin vei opp mot fjellet Aconcagua. Det høyeste fjellet i verden utenfor Himalaya. Forskningsresultatene vil inngå i både hovedoppgaver og videre forskning og vil bli publisert i ulike internasjonale tidsskrift.
I et historisk perspektiv har dette vært en av de største ekspedisjonene gjennomført i norsk høydemedisinsk forskning!
Søndag 8. januar 2007 stod 16 av 17 på toppen!
