Etter frokost i dag dro alle på avklimatiseringstur. Voi forbereder oss til å ta fatt på ekspedisjonens lengste tur.

Startet dagen rolig. Til frokost hadde vi havregryn og kokt vann. Øynene har blitt mye bedre over natten, og alle sammen var i fin form. Etter frokost dro alle på avklimatiseringstur. I skrivende stund sitter jeg på 4000 m /( høyderekord for 5 stk) nesten ved Plaza Di Fransia som ligger ved sørveggen av toppen. På veien spiste vi lunsj og buldret på en stor stein.

Bakgrunn:

10 medisinerstudenter fra Det Medisinske Fakultet ved NTNU i Trondheim og 7 andre "ordinære" ekspedisjonsdeltakere dro i desember 2006 til Andesfjellene for å gjennomføre ulike forskningsprosjekter innen høydemedisin. Gruppen bestod av både ferske og mer erfarne forskere. De ville gjennomføre ulike eksperiment på sin vei opp mot fjellet Aconcagua. Det høyeste fjellet i verden utenfor Himalaya. Forskningsresultatene vil inngå i både hovedoppgaver og videre forskning og vil bli publisert i ulike internasjonale tidsskrift.

I et historisk perspektiv har dette vært en av de største ekspedisjonene gjennomført i norsk høydemedisinsk forskning!

Søndag 8. januar 2007 stod 16 av 17 på toppen!
