Endelig er rypejakta i gang! Årets første tur gikk til de høyeste toppene i Meldal for å jakte på fjellrypa. Forventningene var små da bunnåret i fjor nok ville sette sitt preg på bestanden også i år. Det var også relativt dødt i fjellet, men i løpet av jaktdagen fikk vi da sett 14 fjellryper og 5 harer. Etter våre ”herjinger” var det fortsatt like mange harer og 11 fjellryper igjen…

Fredag kveld dro jeg og Mattis opp til foten av fjellet, og la oss til under åpen himmel da det var gode 12 grader kl 8 på kvelden . Utsikt mot toppene i Trollheimen, bålbrenning og stjerneklar himmel. Alt lovet godt for neste dag.

Kl. 05.30 galte Nokia-hanen. Det var fortsatt mørkt, men i løpet av en halv time var det skytelys. Kl. 06.50 kom sola snikende over horisonten i nordøst . Mens den røde solskiva seg sakte oppover og gradvis ble gulere lettet den første rypa like over og til høyre for meg. Fjellrype i soloppgang

Fram til lunsjtid så vi 4 ryper, derav måtte en bøte med livet. Etter lunsj ble det en lang dødperiode da vi beveget oss lavere i terrenget. Til slutt bestemte vi oss for å prøve toppene igjen, og det viste seg å være et smart trekk. Like smart var det ikke å stoppe uoppmerksomt i et skard å småprate om videre progress. Etter 5 minutter mens jeg stod med kameraet i hendene og fotograferte noen skyer lettet 6 ryper i urda rett ved siden av! Og de var ikke snauere enn at de fløy rett over hodet på meg mens jeg hev fra meg kameraet og fiklet opp hagla, men for sent… Ergelig når det er så lang mellom sjansene.

Senere hadde vi nærkontakt med flere harer uten at disse kom nevneverdig nærmere de evig jaktmarker. Resultatet for dagen ble derfor 3 fine fjellryper, og med tanke på den lave bestanden var det kanskje like greit at resten fikk leve videre . Når dette skrives er to av rypene allerede blitt speket, og skal tjene som snacks på kommende høstturer!

Beklager litt seint svar. Jakta foregikk på Resfjellet. Fint område som kan anbefales! Vær imidlertid oppmerksom på turister tidlig på høsten!
