Etter noen dager med orienteringsl�p rundt Zermatt var det endelig klart for hviledag, og dermed tur til den enkleste 4000-metertoppen i omr�det. Vi var 19 personer, fordelt p� tre taulag, som tok f�rste kabelbane opp til Klein Matterhorn onsdag morgen.

Der oppe ble vi m�tt av sterk morgensol og noks� lav temperatur i forhold til dalen under oss, 3-4 grader i skyggen er kaldt i forhold til 15. En rask tur ut i sola gjorde imidlertid temperaturen mye bedre, og det var bare � kaste superbuksa med en gang . Vi var s�pass mange og uorganiserte at innbinding og fordeling p� taulag tok litt tid, men etter en snau halvtime var alle klare, og kursen ble satt mot Breithorn, som badet i sollys.

Anmarsjen til Breithorn fra Klein Matterhorn g�r over en bre med sv�rt utydelige sprekker. Sprekkene g�r stort sett parallelt med tr�kket, s� vi fors�kte � f�le oss litt fram mens vi gikk . Helgen f�r hadde to personer g�tt gjennom og blitt trukket opp av helikopter, og med mange uerfarne i taulaget var spenningen til � ta og f�le p�. Midt p� breen hoppet vi over noen sprekker, men dette var ogs� de eneste mulighetene for uhell p� vei opp til toppen. Vi valgte � g� til h�yre opp p� bandet mellom midttoppen og hovedtoppen, for deretter � traversere ryggen nordover og g� normalveien ned igjen . Eggen opp til toppen var smal og trafikkert, men med stegjern var det plankekj�ring. Toppen var ogs� sv�rt godt befolket, og det var til tider kaotiske tilstander med taukveiler overalt.

Nedturen var kort og effektiv, med passering av en diagonal bresprekk i fjellsiden som eneste kritisk punkt. Mange taulag hadde startet langt senere enn oss, s� fjellsiden var som en stor maurtue. Noen hadde ogs� valgt � ta nedturen med paraglider, og fant litt termikk i sn�flanken ned mot Klein Matterhorn . H�ydesyken var totalt frav�rende underveis, men de fleste kjente det litt i hodet mens vi ventet p� kabelbanen ned til Zermatt. Selv valgte Linn og undertegnede � g� ned fra Trockener Steg, og ta en stor og velfortjent �l p� en koselig uteservering nesten nede i Zermatt.
