Storskrymten er det høyeste punktet i Sør-Trøndelag. Toppen er norges femte høyeste fylkestopp. Det er nok ikke den mest kjente og besøkte toppen der den ligger gjemt bak Dovres 2000-metere. Vi besteg den i løpet av en helgetur i sol, snø og vind. Utgangspunkt var veien inn til Snøheim.

Dovre i februar kan være en prøvelse. Dette værharde fjellområde som ligger slik til at det ofte er dårlig vær. Det vil si at Dovre fungerer som en skystopper både fra nord og sør. Det blir mange drømme- og planleggingstimer over turkartene i løpet av et år, og Storskrymten hadde fristet lenge

Vi ankom Hjerkinn sent fredag kveld, og kjørte så langt veien tillot det. Det var som vanlig ikke mye snø langs veien innover til Snøheim, og etter at utstyret var klargjort la vi avgårde i mørket innover mot Snøheim. Skiføret var ikke spesielt godt. Det var store issvuller som var utfordrende nok med kun en liten LED lykt som lyskilde. Vi passerte Snøheim, og tok sikte på teltplass et sted inne i Svånådalen. Det var lite som minnet om skiføre når vi gikk i lia fra Kjølen i retning Heimaste Svånåkollen. Skøyter kunne nok fungert like godt på issvullene. Etter mye jobbing med stavene kom vi omsider inn til Innaste Svånåkollen der teltplass ble etablert. Da roen senket seg i teltet var klokka godt over midnatt.

Trøndelags høyeste punkt

Neste dag våknet vi til et lavt skydekke, vind og lett snødrev. Dagens plan om å nå Storskrymten så ut til å forsvinne, men vi gikk alikevell avgårde innover dalen mot Langvasstindan. Vell nede på Langvatnet bedret været seg en god del, og stemningen i turfølget steg betraktelig. Undertegnede var likevell litt skeptisk, men Are og Jon B fikk overtalt meg til å gjøre et forsøk. Lenge leve optimismen!

Vi la avgårde innover mot Drugshøtjørnin etter at vi dumpet det meste av ustyret like nord for Drugshøeggen. Sola begynte å titte frem når vi fikk Storskrymten i sikte. Selve toppunktet viste seg aldri, men ruta opp sørryggen lå der tydelig framfor oss. En liten lunsjpause ble tatt i starten av ryggen, før Jon B begynte å tråkke løype opp mot toppen . Føret var godt, og det var 10-15 cm nysnø oppå et hard og slett underlag.

Utsikten fra toppunktet var heller dårlig, men alle var likevell fornøyde med å stå på Sør-Trøndelag sitt høyeste punkt. Det at det ikke hadde vært folk på toppen siden oktober satt også en liten spiss på opplevelsen.

Nedkjøringen fra toppen ble en av de aller beste. Nysnøen oppå det slette og harde underlaget gjorde at det gikk an å sette skikkelige svinger med fjellskia. Herlig!

Manuell brøyting

Dagen etter hadde skyene igjen trekt innover området. I tillegg var det en del vind. Ruta tilbake til bilen ble lagt om Åmotsdalshytta og Reinheim. På Åmotsdalshytta ble det en liten stopp for å hilse på de som overnattet der. Vi fikk følge videre av to stykker som skulle ned til Kongsvoll.

Leirpullskaret ble forsert, og etter en lunsjpause inne på Reinheim var det bare bakken opp til Snøheim som gjenstod på turen. Den dårlige sikten gjorde orienteringen vanskelig, men vi kom etter hvert inn på rett kurs, og passerte Snøheim på rett kurs mot bilparkeringen . Jeg begynte å bli mektig sliten av en eller annen grunn..., jeg gikk nesten på en slik smell som på Trolltinden i Rondane i fjor sommer. I litt bedre stil enn da kom jeg meg etter hvert tilbake til bilen.

Snøværet sammen med vinden hadde noen steder fokket igjen veien tilbake til Hjerkinn . Denne veien blir ikke brøytet i helgene, så her var det bare å samle de siste kreftene og ta fatt med spaden. Det gikk overraskende fort igjennom de fem stedene som måtte forseres, og det tok ikke lang tid før vi var ute på E6'en i retning Trondheim.

Nok en litt lurvete tur på Dovre var unnagjort. Det blir ofte slik i dette området. Det er mye som skal klaffe hvis man skal oppleve skyfri himmel, men ingen sure miner av den grunn. Denne typen turer er også en flott opplevelse, og man trenger slike turer iblant. Det er da man får erfaring i å takle fjellets utfordringer.
