Det er ikke alltid værmeldingen slår til når man drar til fjells. Denne gangen ble vi overrasket med et meget positivt fortegn. I området rundt Snota var det et solvindu store deler av denne dagen. Når dette er sagt må det også nevnes at vi avsluttet dagen i regn, men dette skapte absolutt ikke noen demper på turen. Kontraster er ofte det som skaper flotte naturopplevelser og det fikk vi store mengder av under denne turen til landemerket Snota.

Været så ikke akkurat bra ut da vi dro fra Trondheim søndag morgen. Gråe skyer sperret for sola, og det var lite som minnet om godt toppturvær.

Marius stilte med bil denne gangen og den røde Saab'en tok oss inn til Folldalen og parkeringen ved Gråsjøen. Are hadde telemarkski, jeg stilte optimistisk med truger og brett mens de to andre i følget skulle prøve ut nytt utstyr foran "Josten på langs" turen førstkommende uke.

Fra parkeringen la vi avgårde på sommerføre med skia på ryggen. Etter ca 200 høydemetere gikk vi inn i vinteren. Samtidig tittet sola frem og det bygde seg opp et lit værvindu over Snotmassivet. Dette passet oss selvfølgelig utmerket mens vi labbet oppover den slake motbakken inn til Svartvatnet. Vi bestemte oss for å gå direkte opp ryggen til Litl-Snota for så å runde den på vestsiden før den siste bakken opp til "Stor-Snota".

Trivsel i lunsjpausen

Etter en liten lunsjpause begynte vi på ryggen vestover fra Svartvatnet . Der ligger det noen fine renner som var helt frie for snø i kantene. Jeg tok derfor av meg trugene for å spare litt krefter. Når vi kom oss opp til bandet mellom Litl-Snota og Snota trakk skydekket seg litt sammen og det ble en liten stund i tåka før det igjen klarnet opp når vi stod ved toppvarden.

Slitsomt opp den siste bakken til toppen. Det ble en lang innmarsj med truger.

Snota er et landemerke i Trollheimen og kanskje den mest kjente toppen hvis en ser bort i fra toppene i "Trollheimen-provinsen" Innerdalen. Snotmassivet ruver i terrenget og gir dermed en vid utsikt fra toppunktet. Avrundede topper i øst, kvasse Innerdalstinder i sør og bratte vestlandstopper i vest. Trollheimen er virkelig variasjonenes og kontrastenes fjellområde.

Når vi begynte på returen trakk skyene igjen over og det ble litt dårlig sikt. Den våte vårsnøen gav dårlig glid og det var til stedvis vanskelig å få nok fart på brettet. Snota er ikke en veldig godt egnet nedkjøringstopp, men det er heldigvis ikke mange bakkene som skal til før undertegnede blir fornøyd... Når vi var kommet ned under Litl-Snota kom tåka tykkere enn noen gang, og sikten ble maks 100 meter. I den siste bakken ned til Svartvatnet ble det slalomkjøring mellom stein og bare flekker. Samtidig begynte det å falle en og annen regndråpe .

På grunn av den dårlige gliden i det våte været bestemte jeg meg for å ta med brettet opp til toppen merket 1030 moh nord for Svartvatnet for å samle noen ekstra høydemetre. Jeg ville unngå og hele tiden ta av og på brettet i den slake bakken ned til Gråsjøen. De 3 andre med "plank" tok den samme veien som vi kom opp . Kart og kompass måtte fram for å finne veien til toppen i tåkehavet. Toppen ble heldigvis nådd uten problemer og brettet kunne spennes fast for forhåpentligvis siste gang

. Regnværet hadde nå økt i styrke og gliden i snøen var enda dårligere enn sist. Det tok derfor ikke lang tid før jeg klarte å kjøre meg fast. Jeg orket ikke ta av meg brettet en gang til, så stavene ble tatt frem for å komme meg over hindringene. Stavene var til god hjelp et godt stykke nedover lia. Det så nok ganske merkelig ut med en stakende brettkjører i sneglefart på kryss og tvers mellom de bare flekkene. Den siste biten ned til Gråsjøen ble derimot en del bedre og det var artig å kjøre slalom med et aldri så lite orienteringsmoment mellom lyngenflekkene. Jeg var heldig å fant et av de lengste snøfylte bekkedragene.

Denne dagsturen startet i solskinn, men ble avsluttet i tåke og regnvær. Etter ca 7 timer på tur satt vi godt fornøyde i bilen på vei hjemover til Trondheim.
