 I USA er alt stort, også sportsbutikkene... Denne "lille" sportsbutikken fant jeg i Anchorage, og her kan man ikke klage på utvalget - spesielt når det gjelder jakt- og fiskeutstyr. I Norge er sportsbutikkene stort sett fylt med treningsklær og golfkøller, men innerst, bakerst, nederst i en liten krok kan du hvis du er heldig finne et par sekker, noen sluker og litt ymse turutstyr. I USA liker de ting og tang, og i Alaska liker de spesielt ting og tang som kan brukes i villmarken. Det som også var litt spesielt var alle de utstoppede dyrene, fuglene og fiskene som hang på veggen rundt i hele lokalet. Bildene under får fortelle resten! |

 5 dagers kanotur over Swane Lakes og ned Moose River på Kenaihalvøya i Alaska. Området består av et titalls innsjøer med korte bæringer imellom. Sjøene inneholder fine bestander med regnbueørret og enkelte laksearter. Etter kryssing av innsjøene kommer vi til Moose River som skal føre oss tilbake til sivilisasjonen igjen. Dyrelivet er rikt, med minst en brunbjørn, grizzly eller svartbjørn per kvardrat mile (1 mile = 1,6 km). Moose, ulv, gaupe, bever, weesel, porkypine, svaner, ender og lom finnes i området – med andre er ord et skikkelig villmarksområde som kom til å gi oss mange fine opplevelser (og en litt mer spennende... les videre så får du se).

 Når man nå en gang er i Alaska er man nesten nødt til å prøve laksefisket. Vi har vel alle sett filmer herfra hvor det nesten ikke er plass til vann i elva på grunn av all fisken. Jeg hadde ingen forhåpninger om å oppleve slike tilstander så tidlig på året (juni) men hadde et visst håp om at jeg skulle få tatt en ekte alaskalaks, og jeg kan vel røpe såpass at resultatet overgikk forventningene. |
