Etter at vi hadde vært på turnè i både Jotunheimen og Sunnmørsalpene måtte vi nesten få med oss en heim til. De to smedene i Rondane som ikke ble besøkt på Trolltinden-turen tidligere i sommer skulle avlegges et besøk. Dessverre fikk vi lite igjen i form av utsikt, men ryggen mellom de to toppene innbø på artig klyving tross det dårlige været.

Start ved parkeringen i kanten av Nasjonalparken ved Spranget. Ca 5 km med grusvei inn til Rondvassbu . Alle toppene hadde en liten tåkekalott, og vi innså at noen storslagen utsikt skulle bli vanskelig å oppdrive i dag. Videre på T-merket sti mot Dørålseter oppover mot Rondhalsen . T-merket sti også oppover mot Veslesmeden. Tåka hang på ca. 1800 meter . Vi møtte en del turgåere som kom ned fra toppen

. Veslesmeden lå innpakket i tett tåke, så det var bare å ta fatt på "smedeggen". Ryggen mellom Vesle- og Storsmeden. Ryggen bød på artige utfordringer i form av fine klyvepartier over tre hammere fra laveste punkt på ryggen og opp mot Storsmeden. Det så ut som alle hammerene kunne unngås ved å gå til venstre (i retning Storsmeden).

På Storsmeden tiltok nedbøren og steinene begynte å bli sleipe. Konsentrasjon! Alle 2000-meterstoppene i Rondane var nå unnagjort. 10 stykker totalt. Returen via Kaldbekkbotn ble en tolmodighetsprøve p.g.a de sleipe steinene. Vi la kursen rett på Spranget og gikk utenfor sti i den slake nedoverbakken ned til Kluftin og Ula.
